Some time back after Cheryl had recovered from her Anurism (Blockage of blood to the brain) aged 22 which paralysed her right side taking all of her,arm leg movement and also her right eyesight she applied for a job with Barclays stockbrokers in Glasgow.Chosen from over two hundred applicants she was always such a friendly and outgoing pretty young girl. At one of the monthly meetings each team leader was asked to stand forward and say what had been their biggest life's acheivment. One girl said her first child being born, another said passing her driving test first time ,another getting her own flat and a few others I cannot remember. Cheryl was next..She stood quietly for a minute then told the gathered group her biggest achievement was after her stroke getting back the use of her arm, leg ,and gaining her right side eyesight then getting back into the workplace after just three months. She said she was shocked at how everyone went so very quiet and she wished she hadnt told of this part of her life no one had known about. She walked back to her group and no one would go back to the front to tell their story..She made many many lifelong friends that day. On the day Cheryl was laid to rest at the Cemetary a group of 5 people we did not recognise were standing at the side and as every one began to leave the group approached Mum and myself, three girls and two men. As the first lady took my hand she said after Cheryl left Barclays they had never forgotten this brave and lovely young girl and the story she told that none of them had known of. So she said they had come to say goodbye to a very treasured friend. I still do not know how these kindly people knew about this final goodbye to our girl but somehow they found out, even though Cheryl had left the Company about three years previously. Just another little story in the life of Cheryl Hamilton . Cheryl's Dad talking of his brave Wee Cheryl.
